Building a motion language for Australia's most trusted crypto exchange.
Swyftx is Australia's highest rated crypto exchange — a platform trusted by over 1.1 million Australians to trade Bitcoin and 420+ cryptocurrencies securely. As the product evolved, so did the need to express the brand with the same confidence it had earned in market.
Swyftx had recently overhauled their app, and needed a brand film to showcase it — one that could anchor a Good Design Awards submission. But beyond a single deliverable, the real opportunity was bigger: this was a chance to establish what Swyftx looks like when it moves.
The goal was to develop a motion system that could grow with the brand. Rather than a one-off film, we built a visual language — one flexible enough to carry across social ads, the App Store preview, and the brand's internal culture — giving Swyftx a foundation to build on.
The brand film was the proving ground — a space to test, push and define the visual language of Swyftx in motion before codifying it into a system. Colour behaviour, typographic rhythm, pacing and transition logic were all established through the process of making the film, not before it. What emerged was a motion design system that could flex across formats without losing coherence.
From that foundation, the work expanded. Social media ads, the App Store preview video, and a series of animated values illustrations — each built on the same motion principles, each extending the brand into a new context. The illustrations, originally created by Debra Lim, were brought to life through close collaboration with the Swyftx team, ensuring the animation honoured the character and intention of the original work.
The work made a strong case for what the brand could be. Swyftx walked away with gold at the 2022 Good Design Awards in the Digital Apps & Software category — recognition that felt fitting for a platform consistently at the forefront of Australian fintech.
