There's nothing nice about creativity.
This was the line that stayed with me from the Creative Brisbane Collab's Cultural Legacy Report launch event.
The more I thought about it, the more I agreed. Creativity isn't decoration... It's structural. When it's embedded from the start, it changes things. When it's added at the end, it's merely decoration.
And that's the problem with how co-design often works.
Creatives and artists get brought in once the decisions have already been made.
That's not co-design, that's being called in too late.
Brisbane 2032 is a real opportunity to do it differently. Not just host a three-week event, but build something that actually lasts.
